Island Hopping

So this is the penultimate travelling post and it'll be featuring the beautiful Thai Islands of the south. The south of Thailand is extremely different from the north. It is touristy in the extreme, westernised like most of the big cities and is full of drunken tourists getting tattoos at midnight and collapsing on the beach at dawn. Despite that, the islands really are beautiful and the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. Even with all the crawlers it is still easy to find some peace and quiet and just slump into a hammock for days.

We went to Ko Tao for scuba diving, Ko Phangan for the famous Full Moon Part, Ko Sumi for a quick look around, Krabi for rock climbing, Ko Lanta to relax, Ko Phi Phi for more diving and 'The Beach' and finally Phuket for a final Thai stop.

It's no wonder that the islands are called paradise, they really are beautiful places. Ko Tao and Ko Phi Phi were definitely my favourites; Ko Tao because it was small and had the perfect island feel about it, few cars, wooden huts and tiny roads and Ko Phi Phi because it is simply beautiful and full of life. In 2004 the tsunami completely destroyed Ko Phi Phi but today, 6 years later you wouldn't even know the island was torn about because it has been rebuilt so well. The diving around Ko Tao was pretty poor if I'm honest but when you go diving in the cheapest place in the world where there are more divers than fish you don't really have high hopes. On the other hand Ko Phi Phi diving was some of the best I've ever done and despite the early mornings and exhausting days it was so worth it.

You can tell I took less and less photos as my adventure continues because I have so few to show even though we went to loads of different places. I was a bit annoyed with my friends too cos they took even fewer photos and because I generally wasn't taking photos of myself I have barely and pictures of me in Asia but oh well, nothing I can do about it now!

1 more travelling post to go which will be of Singapore and Malaysia!

After yesterday's trip to the dentist my tooth is still being a nightmare but hopefully it'll all be fixed in a few days time. I want to go to the V&A tomorrow to see the Ballet exhibition before it closes so hopefully I can drag myself out of bed early enough.

Sat night tv is poor, fact x

  1. I always forget to take pictures of myself when I'm out with my camera! Thank you for your lovely comments, the sewing shouldn't be too hard because I got an A* in GCSE Textiles, but it has been a really really long time since I've sewn a proper garment! *fingers crossed*

  5. I keep hearing about the full moon parties, they always sound pretty epic but I remember my Thai friends said it has negative connotations too? I can't remember what it means now. Anyways loving all your holiday snaps!
