Day 1 LFW AW11

Yesterday was my first time at London Fashion Week and I had such a fun day viewing the exhibitions and meeting a few bloggers. The atmosphere was completely surreal, so many fashionable people and press in one place, I've never been anywhere like it! I spent a good few hours viewing the exhibitions in Somerset House and chatting with some wonderful designers. Even though I don't have any catwalk invites apparently you can get into the shows by turning up early so I'm going to give it a bash.

The experience has taught me a few things about myself already. It's no use being shy, especially if you're on your own so you have to talk to people. I'm normally hopeless when it comes to meeting new people but I just got on with it and had fun. I did see a few bloggers that were chatting to other people so I didn't go up and say hello, it's really silly because I regret it now!

I handed my new business cards out to plenty of people so I'll hopefully be sent lots of shiny photos and press releases soon, especially since a lot of designers don't like you taking photos because there stuff wont be hitting the shops until September.

For my first day I wanted to dress a little edgy and embrace leather and lace textures.

Asymmetric top from Topshop
Leggings from Jigsaw
Coat, leather skirt and wedges from H&M

For once I'm not wearing an entire outfit from Topshop! I know navy and black is not a combination worn by most people but I really don't think it's that wrong. My pink socks add a touch of colour and I even had a little bow in my hair. In terms of jewellery I wanted to keep it to a minimum but still add a little statement so I chose a chunky bracelet and some big rings. I know everyone has these cross rings but I still love them.

When exploring the Topshop NEWGEN exhibition space I bumped into the lovely Kristabel and Winnie, of course I had to take an obligatory photo of them =) Both girls were looking gorgeous in long pleated skirts and colour popping brights, perfect trends for the coming season.

I also bumped into David when I was leaving Somerset House. He was taking street style pictures of gorgeous girls in furry coats. He was wearing a fabulous bow tie but I stupidly didn't take a photo!

Tomorrow will be my final day at fashion week before heading off to France on Monday but I promise to share all the photos I've taken over the next week. Sometimes I feel a little silly taking street style photos plus standing around in the freezing cold really isn't my idea of fun. But practice makes perfect so by the end of my 3 day stint hopefully I'll be a pro a style spotting on the go.

Attending a party tonight x
