So I don't exactly have the authority to tell anyone how to wear tweed but in my opinion this old man fabric needs to be worn with something hip in order to juxtapose the old man vibe. I decided to team my new blazer with a pattern clash almighty from items I picked up at the new Oxford Street Forever 21 store. On paper, tweed leopard print and Aztec probably doesn't sound too great but in reality I love it. I found this old studded belt from my grunge days and the cross necklace is a good finishing touch I think.
When it comes to style I'm definitely more grunge than girly. I love clashing prints, Gothic jewellery, chunky accessories and clothes with a bit of attitude. Yes, I do wear a pretty dress occasionally and I have a huge collection of cardigans but if I'm true to myself I still embrace my teenage years of grunge. Tweed wasn't really associated with my teenage grunge wardrobe but today I like to incorporate these old fashioned materials into my style.

Is tweed something you would wear x
Ooh lovely! I'm definitely going to use this as inspiration for my own tweed jacket. I like the idea of pairing it with something really modern to offset it.
ReplyDeleteLove the clash of prints against the tweed! Totally gets rid of the old man vibe. And I love that tee! :)

You always wear the most awesome contrasting outfits - really different and individual, a style that I would never get sick of looking at! Keep at it! xxx

never really thought i could pull of tweed but loving that gorgeous jacket - especially the elbow patches! xx
ReplyDeleteI love this! I definitely agree that you have to wear it with something hip to juxtapose the old vibe with it, it can go so wrong! xx
ReplyDeleteSirens and Bells
I love a bit of tweed. I'm quite old fashioned though and like wearing it country style. I just don't do hip very well!
ReplyDeleteI love this! But I must admit I would go for different shoes. I tend to wear my tweed in a very traditional 40s kind of style, but I might try it a bit more like this next time!
ReplyDeleteI am loving your tweed jacket, its bloody brilliant. I need to get my hands on some!
ReplyDeleteI love the tweed jacket, it looks great on you! I really want one now, but it would have to have worn leather elbow patches! :P I think you said it perfectly, that the clashingprints sounds strange, but the way you put them together looks fab! :) xx
ReplyDeleteI do like the pattern clash, I think it's the matching colour schemes that make it look good!
ReplyDeleteAh wow I love this outfit! It's always interesting to see how someone else would wear something- I see this jacket and I think floral dress and brogues, boring I know! But you've mixed up the patterns and look really cool! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love tweed! I can't wait to get my hands on some of my own :)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! I love the mix of patterns, the tweed with the Aztec and the liberty...Must pluck up the courage to try it one day!
ReplyDeleteI am surgically attached to my tweed jacket, I swear they go with everything! I agree that you need to offset the slightly aging nature of tweed with something more modern, and I think your aztec shirt works brilliantly. Currently I am favouring an obnoxious splash of orange! x
ReplyDeleteAmazing jacket, I love how you've styled it, I would never have thought of clashing prints like this but you make it look immensely awesome!

I love the mix of patterns, I would pair it with a floral dress and loafers :)
