This is the first time I've celebrated my birthday on the blog and boy has it been a good one. This time last year I was travelling through South East Asia and celebrated my birthday in a joyous haze on a beach in Vietnam. This year I was stuck in cold, wet London so decided to make it a little special. I spent the weekend in Berlin (more on that in a few days I promise) and the following weekend I went out for a very belated meal with my family. Every year we go to a fancy restaurant of my choice for my birthday celebration. I wanted to go to Claridges this year but it was fully booked so instead we went to the Tate Modern restaurant on the 7th floor. I have a thing for views at night and the higher up the better. Without a doubt this is one of the best night time views I've ever had in London. We were sat by the window directly opposite St Paul's, it was truly stunning. The food was delicious and in terms of decoration, the views did all the talking. I would go back to this restaurant in a heart beat.

Turbine Hall

After dinner we wondered around the Turbine Hall taking in the new Unilever Series installation, Tacita Dream. Because I got a Canon EOS 550d from my parents many pictures were taken on the sloping entrance and the experience of being inside such an iconic gallery so late in the evening was a really fantastic. I love London to bits but a night the city really is on another level.

Have you eaten at the Tate Modern or any other gallery restaurant x

Weekday Woollies

Photobucket

Photobucket

Weekend before last I went to Berlin to celebrate my 25th birthday with my closest friends. Whilst we didn't do a whole load of shopping, on the Kristabel's advice I did check out the store of the Swedish brand Weekday. It wasn't as cheap as good old Monki but not as expensive as Urban Outfitters, more like a pricey Topshop. However, the clothes were that lovely simplistic Swedish design, good quality and unique looking. I picked up these 2 woolly jumpers for a total of 90 Euro and even though they were a struggle to get into my little hand luggage sized suitcase I love them. I'd been on the look out for an Aztec come Christmas jumper and this blue one fits the bill perfectly. I also wanted a cable knit grey jumper and even though I probably could have found similar on the British high street I do love this one a lot. I want more jumpers in different colour, I love a woolly knit.

Have you socked up on winter knitwear yet x

Crochet collar

Shirt, skirt and boots from Topshop
Belt from ASOS

Scarf from H&M

I really haven't got a lot of use out of this skirt which is a shame because I love the colour pleats and length. Burgundy is always a key colour of mine for winter so I'm definitely going to try and wear it more often. This shirt is also something I don't wear as much as I'd like. It's pretty sheer which makes it a little inappropriate for work but the crochet collar was just to gorgeous to pass up one. I like to wear it at the weekend if I fancy being a little dressy.

I'm trying to grow my hair but it's so slow. I've been dying it for years and having an all over bleach for the past couple of years now so it's taken a bit of a battering. Ideally I want it to be like Amy's so it's going to take a really long time to grow.

I have an mad interview at work tomorrow and by mad I mean 3 separate interviews and a presentation. It's for a really fantastic position and the extra benefits would be totally amazing but I am very inexperienced so I'm not expecting to get it! However that isn't going to stop me from trying my best!

Wish me luck x

Perfect leather jacket

Faux leather jacket and dress from Topshop

Vivienne Westwood x Melissa pumps c/o Daniel Footwear

So I know it isn't real leather but I adore this jacket. The biker style and detachable faux fur collar are perfection and I know I'll be wearing it for a very long time. I'm really into faux fur collars at the minute because they can add quite a lot of luxe to an outfit. This is all a bit rock chic school girl I think but I wanted to add a cute pump and the bow tie to make it just that little bit more girly.

I've had such a busy weekend. I did a 10k race in Richmond Park with Lily on Saturday morning and last night I went out for a belated birthday dinner with my family. We went to the Tate Modern restaurant on the 7th floor. The views were breath taking and the food was delicious but more on that another day.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend x

Last Thursday I spent the evening in the Pall Mall store Farlows. I'd never heard of it either and when I found out it specialised in country fashion I was even more perplexed to why I was invited to the blogger event. However, the shop was an absolute delight, full of beautiful tweed clothing, crazy accessories and gorgeous boots and bags. After a few glasses of the bubbly stuff and some delicious nibbles we all set about our style challenge to dress as 'Lady of the manor'. I instantly found a stunning Barbour jacket and dressed my outfit around it. I found these chord trousers which were pretty identical to the pair I already had on and a cute Breton jumper with contrasting arm cuffs. A little dull compared to some of the other outfits but this was my first ever style challenge and I felt a bit flustered! My look was definitely more appropriate for a day out shooting in the mud which I suppose is a reflection on how I dress normally, nothing to prim and proper for me thanks! As far as country fashion goes I've always been in love with the waxy Barbour jackets and I even own a pair of bright pink Hunter wellies but that was a far as my knowledge would extend so it was great discovering some new brands such as Dubarry and Joules. All in all a terrific evening and if you fancy throwing my outfit a vote over on the Farlows Facebook page here please do =)

Thank you Laura, Sophie and the team at Farlows for a wonderful evening x

Monki Madness

Finally got round to visiting the new Monki concession in Selfridges last week and I bought a few things too. I love the plaid shirt so much, it's oversized and really comfy. The polka dot shirt is something I've been on the look out for ages now and it looks fab with a black vest worn underneath. A stripy shirt is always a favourite of mine, you can never have too many breton tops and aren't the leopard print socks just adorable. The concessions is small but has a great range of clothes and the best thing are the prices. As far as high street shopping goes it's not expensive at all. The tshirt was £10, the plaid shirt was £2o and the polka dot shirt was £30 which is extremely reasonable if you ask me. I'm really delighted that this Swedish brand has finally made an appearance in the UK and the simple yet stylish, affordable clothing means I'm definitely going to be back again. If you don't live in London you can check out the online store instead. I have my eye on this top and there are definitely a few knit wear items I want to try on next.

Have you bought anything from Monki yet x

Swaning around

Photobucket

Photobucket
Top and skirt from H&M
Clogs from Swedish Hasbeens x H&M

This top is one of those novelty purchases that I absolutely love. I really like the whimsical picture of the swan and the washed out colours. The top is slightly cropped so I like wearing it with high waisted skirts. Another fun addition to my animal clothing collection. As a kid I didn't like swans because I'm sure we got chased by one down by the river once. They're beautiful but dangerous animals, quite an interesting concept really...

Do you have issues with any animals from your childhood x

I am my hair

Been meaning to show you these pictures for ages. When I was at London Fashion Week last month Lulu and I managed to book an appointment with Tony & Guy to get our hair cut and styled for free. Because I'd had my hair cut the week previously I decided to opt for just a wash and blow try. With it being Fashion Week and all I told my lovely hairdressers whose name I've since forgotten that I wanted a quiff and something a bit edgy. I like to think I'm a pretty easy client when it comes to hair. I normally have a rough idea of what I want and I leave the rest up to the stylist. I must say I was a little nervous during the process as I never really experiment with my hair styling, I normally style it in a pretty emo way by brushing it all forward and blow drying but I LOVED the end results. The sides were slicked back and top was curled and quiff like, it almost reminded me of a mohican. I'm pretty confident that I wont be able to recreate this myself but it was fun having a crazy cool hair style for a few days.

Photobucket
By the end of day 2 (above) it was still in a decent shape but by Sunday it definitely needed washed again.

Thank you so much Toni & Guy, I loved it x

Flamingos

Dress from Dunnes Stores
Denim jacket from Uniqulo
Belt from Accessorize
Chelsea boots from Topshop

You know I love animal print right? Well when I saw this dress during my last visit to Northern Ireland I knew I had to try it on. It's a bit on the childish side of fashion but I do love the cute little flamingos. It's easy to wear and perfect for lazy days. Also wearing my new Allegea boots which I adore. I've worn them to work a few times and on this occasion which was a night at the pub and they're very comfortable. I've had to stop wearing them for a bit though as I've been suffering from a sore leg after running a half marathon the other weekend and they've been making it worse. Some would say you need to suffer for your art but on this occasion I do not agree. Hopefully my leg will be better soon and I can start running again and wearing heels.

Would you wear a dress as silly as this x
